Match Preview

Bangladesh won the first match of the series by 33 runs. The Tigers won the series by 103 runs in the next rain. Bangladesh has won the series 10 times out of 11 since 2015. However, this is the first series win against Sri Lanka.

Although the series is confirmed, the importance in the last match is not less. Because, to play directly in the 2023 ODI World Cup, the importance of points per match of the series is much more. As a result, the importance of this match is much more for both teams.

This is a more important match for Bangladesh. Because, in the next series, Bangladesh will have to play on foreign soil. It is very difficult to get points in the record of the Tiger team on foreign soil.

Despite winning the first two matches against Sri Lanka, the Bangladesh team is not happy with their performance. Bangladesh is looking for a way to give its best against inexperienced Sri Lanka. On the other hand, the Lankans have confidence in Kushal Perera as the new captain, excluding the experienced players.

Mushfiqur Rahim helped Bangladesh win the first two matches with the help of two senior captains Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyadh. However, Shakib Al Hasan, who missed the last two series, has not been able to match himself yet.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka wants to avoid the shame of whitewash by winning the last match after securing the series rate. They could not fight in the last two matches due to a lack of experience. That is what Sri Lankan captain Kushal Perera thinks.

“It’s very frustrating,” Pereira said. Lack of experience has put us in trouble. The failure of the middle-order in both the matches has made us suffer. “Our players need to have confidence in their strengths and confidence and play fearless cricket.”

Meanwhile, despite Bangladesh winning the series, Sri Lanka is ahead in the statistics. Sri Lanka has won 39 of their 50 matches in the ODI format. Bangladesh has won only 9 matches. There are also the last two matches. The other two matches have been abandoned.
