ICC T20 World Cup 2021: New Zealand Announce the T20I Squad for the upcoming Twenty20 WC
The Twenty20 World Cup 2021 will be held in October this year in the United Arab Emirates and Oman. Cricket New Zealand announced the squad two months before the start of the T20 World Cup 2021. After the T20 WC, New Zealand will take the same team to the T20 series on Indian soil. Kane Williamson will lead the team.
New Zealand to tour Pakistan after 18 years before the World Cup. No cricketer in the World Cup squad has been included in the squad for the two series. Sky Sports NZ and Spark Sports are the official broadcasting TV channels and will telecast T20 World Cup 2021 in New Zealand.
The Kiwis will start their four-month Asia tour with a visit to Bangladesh. New Zealand Cricket has given separate squads for the previous two World Cup series to avoid the long bio-bubble problem of cricketers.
Kane Williamson will lead the 15-member squad for the World Cup. Adam Milne will be on standby with the team. Cricket New Zealand is keeping him in the squad as an additional cricketer to deal with the injury.
Three spinners, Ish Sodhi, Mitchell Santner, and Todd Ashell, have been added to the squad for Asia’s spinning wicket. Glenn Phillips and Mark Chapman will also play as spinners for the team.
Trent Boult will lead New Zealand’s pace bowling attack in the World Cup and India tour. He will be joined by Tim Southee, Lucy Ferguson, and Kyle Jamieson. Tim Seifert will be in charge of the back of the wicket. However, Ross Taylor, who has been away from white-ball cricket for a long time, did not get a place in the team.
