Shane Bond Joins the New Zealand Coaching Panel
Former Kiwi pacer Shane Bond joins the New Zealand coaching panel. He will join the New Zealand team in this year’s T20 World Cup 2021. Shane Bond will also be on the coaching panel for the India tour after the World Cup.
In addition to Shane Bond, former Kiwi batsman Luke Ronchi will join the coaching panel. He will be the batting coach of the New Zealand team. New Zealand has introduced the practice of using a fourth coach from several recent series. The team is getting a lot of success.
Shane Bond is a familiar face on the coaching panel of the New Zealand team. Earlier, he was the bowling coach of the Kiwis for the 2012-15 term. He has since coached the Big Bash team, the Sydney Thunders. As a part-time coach, he was the bowling coach of the T20 series against England in 2019.
Shane Bond left the Sydney Thunders for the Big Bash earlier this year. He has been the bowling coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Mumbai Indians. He will also be working with the Mumbai franchise in the postponed part of the 14th edition of the IPL to be held in September this year.
Bond’s inclusion in the Kiwi squad will be quite effective for the team, said New Zealand head coach Gary Steed. He said, ‘Shen (Bond) will work for the Mumbai team in the UAE. They can understand our environment beforehand. Hopefully, he can bring some change tactically for the team.
Gary Steed added that Bond’s experience working with spin and pace bowlers will enrich the team’s cricketers. Also, his plan will be quite successful in the New Zealand team.
