It will be a challenge for Pooran, who will take over as skipper from the all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket. In addition, the Caribbean team will go to Pakistan for a three-match ODI series. Both series will be a part of the Super League for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel has named a 16-member team for the forthcoming trip, but the hosts have not yet confirmed their roster. Three rookies, fast bowlers Jayden Seales and Sherman Lewis and batsman Keacy Carty, will be seeking to make an impression in their first ODI series for the West Indies. Seales and Lewis are Test-level players. Carty is the first player from St. Maarten to be picked for the Senior Men’s West Indies squad.
